Behold Scripture ("Behold," "we," "our," or "us") is an iOS and Android Bible study app developed and operated by Lamar Adams, an independent developer based in Pennsylvania, United States.
The App provides Bible reading, notes, highlights, study tools, AI-powered conversations, and related features.
Behold includes AI-powered features ("Ask Behold") that generate responses based on user prompts and related context.
To provide these features, your messages and related context are processed by Anthropic, the provider of Claude. Anthropic processes this content according to their own Privacy Policy. Per Anthropic's policies, content submitted via the Claude API is not used to train their public AI models.
We may add additional AI providers in the future. If we do, this policy will be updated and any new providers will be disclosed here.
Important AI disclaimer: AI-generated responses are for informational and educational purposes only. They may contain inaccuracies, be incomplete, or fail to reflect specific theological traditions. AI responses are not a substitute for professional spiritual, medical, legal, or mental health guidance. For full disclosure see our AI Use Disclosure.
To operate Behold, we rely on a small set of trusted third-party providers:
If we add or change service providers in the future, this policy will be updated.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
We keep your content (notes, highlights, conversations) for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the App. You can delete individual items at any time within the App.
If you request account deletion, we will remove your associated personal content within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
We use commercially reasonable safeguards including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and secure authentication. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If you are a resident of a U.S. state with comprehensive privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA, VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, UCPA), you have additional rights including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. The legal basis for our processing is generally your consent (which you can withdraw at any time) or our legitimate interest in providing the App.
To exercise any of these rights, email AdamsDev.Labs@gmail.com.
Behold is intended for users ages 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at AdamsDev.Labs@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
Behold is operated from the United States. If you use the App from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to such transfers.
The Bible translations included in Behold are either in the public domain or available under permissive free-use licenses:
Translation attribution is also available in the App's About screen.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Continued use of Behold after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
